Profile and CV

   

My name is José Luis Ramírez and I live in the Pontevedra area, in the Northwest of Spain. As a PhD in biological sciences, with in-house experience in the pharma-biotech industry, I have been working since 2012 as a medical writer, both for an international company and as a freelancer.

As freelance, I have been involved in the writing and editing of a variety of regulatory documents, such as Clinical Protocols, CSRs, Information Brochures and patient forms, in several therapeutic areas, including bone marrow transplant, breast cancer, dermatology, ophthalmology and Alzheimer’s disease. However, my role in the writing of these documents has always been partial. I never produced the whole documents from the scratch on my own. Quite often, my task was to translate the document from English to Spanish, for the Spanish clinical market. In those cases, I did the translation of the whole document.

Most of my work as a freelance medical writer has involved texts of a more academic nature, for university professors, undergraduate students, private clinical practitioners, hospital departments, and CRO companies. This type of work has included original research articles, reviews, clinical cases, case series, end-of-degree and end-of-master projects. The texts include a wide array of therapeutic areas, as cardiovascular, oncology, kidney disease, cell biology, physiotherapy, physical education, dermatology, surgery, Parkinson’s disease, COVID-19, systems biology, etc.

Moreover, I am a member of AERTeM, the Spanish association of medical writers.
